The Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office has an Law Enforcement & Communications Division that is comprised of the Dispatch Unit, Victim's Services Unit, Dive Team, and Marine Patrol Unit. It is under the command of Captain John Reed.
- Dispatch Unit - Responsible for handling phone calls to the Sheriff's Office. Crash reports, tickets, radio logs and complaint numbers entered into the law enforcement system.
- Victim Services Unit (VSU) - A trained group of volunteers under the direction of the HCSO that extend the services of police, fire and medical personnel in a crisis.
- Dive Team - Volunteer and sworn deputies who are called upon to retrieve bodies from the waters in Hillsdale County.
- Marine Patrol Unit - Responsible for maintaining marine safety on the waters within the jurisdiction of Hillsdale County.
